Wire rope tension sensors
Indirect load measurement via the lateral deflection of a wire rope. Mountable on an existing hoist rope after the fact, without breaking or opening it.
Retrofittable without breaking the rope. For rope diameters 6–36 mm and loads up to 200 kN, manufactured from stainless steel.
Measurement principle
The wire rope tension sensor measures force indirectly via the lateral deflection of the rope: two clamping bodies fix the rope in place while a central body deflects it by a defined amount. The resulting restoring force is captured by four strain gauges (SG) and output as a bridge signal.
Installation does not require the rope to be opened or interrupted. The sensor is clamped to the side of the rope and is operational within minutes. This makes the type M-0046 particularly suited for retrofitting to existing hoist ropes.
