Capacitive or inductive

Capacitive sensors react to almost any material, metal, plastic, glass or water, and are particularly suited to detecting non-metallic objects. Inductive sensors are designed for metallic targets; their switching characteristic is very stable and they are insensitive to dirt and moisture.

The NRB, NRN, CBB and CCB models stocked here are uniformly resistant to magnetic fields and have a reduction factor of 1, meaning they are equally sensitive to all common metals. That makes them suited to limit switches and position detection on hoists, trolleys and gates, where electromechanical switches are too unreliable.
